HISTORICAL OVERVIEW

Rhodochrosite was first described in 1813 by J.F.L. Haussmann in Romania, named after the Greek word rhodokhros, meaning “rose-colored.” Known as the “Inca Rose Stone,” it was revered by the Incas as a sacred gem symbolizing love and life force. Today, Rhodochrosite is celebrated for its vibrant pink hues and its reputation as a stone of compassion, emotional healing, and joy. Collectors especially prize crystal-grade specimens from the Sweet Home Mine in Colorado, which can fetch high values due to their rarity and beauty.
